Matthew Gilpin - Deputy Chairman EMAC Group

Educated at Oriel College, Oxford University (M.A. Jurisprudence) where he won the Moynihan Plate debating competition at the Oxford Union Society, Matthew subsequently entered private practice at the Bar after a period with the SFA, the forerunner of the UK Financial Services Authority, before moving in-house to the Corporate Finance department (Securities Group) at SJ Berwin & Co, the leading Private Equity law firm.

Matthew has worked for many years as an investment banker in Central and Eastern Europe, most recently before EMAC Capital as a Director (Equity Capital Markets & Syndicate) at CA IB, the investment bank of Bank Austria Creditanstalt, bringing extensive specialist regional transaction origination and execution experience.

Matthew has executed capital raisings and disposals of approximately €2.3bn throughout Central & Eastern Europe.

Matthew has written for the Sunday Telegraph newspaper on investments and is a Steward and Life Vice-President of the South of England Agricultural Society. He is also a member of the Securities Institute and the Institute of Agricultural Management. Matthew speaks English and French.
